Where can the Diploma of Leadership and Management take you?

BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership and Management is a Nationally recognised qualification. First Door tailors the training and assessment in the twelve course units to relate to Early Childhood leadership and management skills, required in the National Quality Standard Quality Area 7: Governance and Leadership. You will be equipped to step up your career with opportunities, such as:

  • Senior leadership role within the Early Childhood sector
  • Outside School Hours Care Coordinator
  • Early Childhood Centre Director or Manager
  • Operations Manager or Senior management role within the Early Childhood sector
  • Owning or managing your own Early Childhood service

  • Option for face to face training with an interactive workshop for each unit at our North Brisbane venue

Our Course Structure

At First Door, the twelve units that form the Diploma of Leadership and Management course are groupes into three related parts:

  • Leading
  • Organising and monitoring 
  • Planning

First Door has rolling enrolment for when it suits you to get started in your course, at any point in the year from January to November. Students get started on the relevant unit that commences following enrolment, and your training plan is built from your start date. Most students complete the course over 12 months, but you have up to two years to complete this course.

You need to be employed in a leadership role so you are able to complete the NQS related workplace projects that form the assessment tasks.

Flourish in Management: Flexible eLearning short course

Flourish in Management eLearning course covers essential Early Childhood management skills to:
- successfully recruit, select and induct the best people that fit your team/organisation's vision
- enable your team to work together in quality improvement, aligned with the NQS
manage performance to develop growth focused educators and leaders with purpose and role clarity

This course supports your professional learning in three management units from the Diploma of Leadership and Management full course, to achieve quality outcomes in Early Childhood teams. 
You'll receive:

  • access to our eLearning portal, with video tutorials, resources, assessment guidance and a student forum
  • an assessment workbook for each management unit, with workplace projects designed to guide your learning into management practices  
  • a personal mentoring meeting for each unit, and study support
  • a transcipt of completed units on successful completion. All completed units are able to be credit transferred towards the full course qualification.
