Build consistent practice across your whole team

First Door partners with service leaders to strengthen shared purpose, pedagogy and consistent quality practice that aligns with the National Quality Framework.

The problem with quick qualifications

The big cost of quick qualifications

Unfortunately, educators can receive early childhood qualifications WITHOUT the time, support and learning needed to gain the skills and knowledge required in their role. This contributes to negative outcomes for educators, service teams and the sector, including:

low wellbeing and burnout of educators

higher turnover and issues with staffing arrangements

educators lacking motivation, with low-level professionalism and poor practice

negative outcomes for children and families

Our commitment to the sector

Our commitment to develop educators’ purpose and capability

First Door has a long-established, positive reputation for developing capability and inspiring educators throughout their career. We believe all educators need the strong foundation gained in their early childhood qualifications with First Door.

With First Door, your service gains:

Educators with a strong sense of purpose, knowledge and capability, aligned with the National Quality Framework

Free access to Behaviour Rethink Team toolkit for shared learning in your team, to support shared reflection and quality improvement

Educators that lead and inspire others, with practice that supports quality education and care

Educators that are equipped to progress in their career in the early childhood sector

Live progress updates

Regular
reporting

Receive regular official reports on student’s course progress with transcripts, and quarterly training plans for trainees and apprentices.

Dedicated mentor

Easier communication and planning with one mentor visiting your service monthly (or fortnightly if you have 4+ students).

We support the success and professional growth of each of our students through:

1
Personal onboarding with their mentor

We start the student’s relationship with their mentor from day 1 of course commencement. Mentors gain understanding of each student’s study skills and support needs as part of our onboarding process.

2
Ongoing and timely support

Support includes guidance and feedback directly from their First Door mentor and assessor.

3
Inspiring & interactive online resources

First Door provides an online course with tutorials, videos and resources for each unit, that showcase quality practice in services rated Exceeding the NQS or rated Excellent by ACECQA. There’s not just a pdf document to read!

4
Anytime and flexible accessibility

Students have flexible access to online learning and can complete and submit assessment tasks anytime, from an online device.

5
Professional knowledge assessment

Our students have a knowledge-based conversation for each unit with their mentor. These mentor meetings encourage development of professional language and reflection.

6
Practical, workplace-related assessment tasks

Our assessment tasks are designed to put students’ learning into practice. This also includes workplace practical skills assessment and feedback by their mentor.

7
Transparency on course progress

Transparency includes regular communication, reporting, and a clear support process. Current progress records are visible online to the student, mentor and service director.
