You will have three years to complete your Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care course from your enrolment date, and two years to complete the Diploma of Leadership and Management and the Certificate lll in Early Childhood Education and Care courses. Scheduled workshops are available for you to attend, and this schedule follows the course curriculum during the months of January to November each year.

You are welcome to enrol at any stage as we have a continual intake of students joining into the course curriculum throughout the year. We have a range of learning options to suit students throughout Queensland. For more information on choosing your best suited training plans, please refer to your First Door course guide.

Flexible eLearning

First Door facilitates Flexible eLearning to students throughout Queensland.  We partner with you to be your best professionally, no matter where you live in Queensland, with:

  • inspiring and helpful resources and assessment guides for each unit of study
  • interactions and collaboration with students completing the same unit
  • zoom meetings with your personal mentor to share information
  • study support
  • practical assessments so you can put your learning into practice as you complete each assessment workbook

Flexi training plan

The Flexi plan suits students that are eligible to RPL several course unit/s, are highly self-motivated and prefer a self-paced option to set their own assessment due dates. Flexi students set their own timetable providing they are able to complete the course within three years. Where possible, the flexi course follows the course structure excluding any RPL units.

The monthly meeting with the student’s personal mentor enables goal setting and assessment due dates to be established. Where possible, Flexi students choose units that are in sync with the structured plan so that they can attend relevant workshops. Flexi student are encouraged to attend at least half of the workshops provided for the Diploma students.

Structured training plan

Monthly timetable
The structured plan provides students with a monthly timetable to work through a course unit each month from February to November. Studying using this plan assists students to stay focused meeting together at a monthly workshop and working at the same pace with a group of students.

At the beginning of each month, students receive their new unit resources and attend an interactive workshop. A workplace mentoring meeting occurs mid-month and assessments and workbooks are due at the end of each month. One unit is completed each month, excluding the months of December and January each year.

Rolling enrolment
Students generally start the unit that commences the month following their enrolment.
